Meet the founders: Urvashi Singh and Aakrati Rampal

Nari founders Urvashi Singh and Aakrati Rampal wearing handcrafted embroidered jackets

Nari began with a simple belief — the craftsmanship and heritage of India deserves a place in wardrobes across the world, worn quietly and kept for years rather than a single season.

For Urvashi, the journey has been a little unconventional. Coming from a business background, she has spent over a decade building and scaling businesses in the AI and SaaS industry. That work taught her to build brands and take ideas to market; her love for Indian craftsmanship began at home, inspired by her mother's appreciation for handcrafted pieces. That early influence sparked the vision behind Nari.

For Aakrati, fashion has always been home. Having built and run a fashion label herself, she brings years of experience in design, craftsmanship and sourcing, and in shaping collections that stay true to their roots while feeling effortless to wear.

Together, they combined their strengths — business, technology, fashion and craftsmanship — to build Nari in London: hand-embroidered layers designed for the modern wardrobe, where each stitch is worked by hand and no two pieces are ever quite identical.

Why quiet luxury, why now

Nari reimagines Indian handwork — including traditions such as kantha embroidery, a simple running stitch that builds pattern and texture slowly — for evenings, workdays and travel alike. Read alongside our notes on quiet luxury and building a heritage label slowly, the aim is considered rather than decorative: depth of cloth, ease of cut, and handwork that softens beautifully the more a piece is worn.

How the atelier works

Every jacket and vest is finished by hand and designed to move between seasons — velvet for evenings that ask for depth, breathable cotton for warm days and travel, structured denim for everyday ease. Start with our bestselling layers or browse the full atelier, then explore by cloth — velvet jackets, cotton jackets and denim jackets. For commissions, press or simply sizing advice, write via our contact page — we reply from the London atelier.
